Simon Winchester
British journalist and author Simon Winchester has a knack for finding extraordinary people to write about.

Simon Winchester became famous for his book The Surgeon of Crowthorne, the story of an eccentric genius who contributed to the first Oxford English Dictionary from a lunatic asylum.
The subject of Simon's latest book is another eccentric genius: British biochemist Joseph Needham, whose love of China led to his masterpiece called Science and Civilisation in China - all 24 volumes of it.
Simon's own book about Needham is called Bomb, Book and Compass.
